Your Voice for Positive Change - Farrah Williams-Deck for Blount County Commission, District 4, Seat A
A Little About Farrah
Daughter of Rudy and Judy Williams- I’m a long-time Blount County Resident, currently living in my childhood home. Our family history includes farmers, engineers and bankers. Coming from a family of farmers, I understand the importance of preserving farmland throughout generations. I believe in taking the best possible care of our senior citizens. When my father passed away, my husband and I purchased my childhood home from my mother so we could take over the upkeep of the property.
Wife and Mother of Four- I am a proud mother of ShayLeigh, Cruise, Kylei, and Reece. My children have attended Blount County Schools, including Fairview Elementary, Carpenters Middle School, William Blount High School, and Maryville College, and they are the light of my life. With my husband, Matthew Deck by my side, we are not only a family, but a team. Leaving a legacy and positive future not only for my own children, but ALL Blount County children is of extreme importance.
Small Business Owner and Entrepreneur- While I am primarily an event planner with Foothills Event Planners, I also own Farrah’s Photography and Event Services, Foothills Wedding Boutique and Formalwear in Foothills Mall, Sweet Somethings, LTD in Foothills Mall, Maryville Billiards in Downtown Maryville, and Colonial Estate Weddings and Events which is a venue located on my childhood property. I am the producer of the Foothills Bridal Extravaganza, an annual Blount County bridal show which offers a trade show of local vendors who offer services for weddings and special events. A lot of circumstances and challenges brought me where I am today. I had to fail time and time again to get to success. I believe in free enterprise and work ethic, I never give up, and I would love to share my story with you!
Conservative Christian- My family and I are members of Fairview United Methodist Church, and my mother is a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church. We love the community and fellowship offered at both of these churches and are very grateful for the people we have met there. When my father passed, the members of Monte Vista stepped up to help my mother and also console her and me in our time of grief. We will always appreciate those who have been here for us, and we want to do the same for others.
Giving Back- Supporting organizations such as the Estelle Martin Music Foundation and Second Chance Prom Ministry to support families in need are just a couple of areas I focus on giving. I am also the founder of the Blount County Wedding Professionals Association, bringing wedding dreams to life, and we donate one free wedding ceremony per year.
Supporter of Farmers and Rural or Scenic Land- Let’s keep Blount Beautiful together and discuss smarter development, NOT rushed or overdevelopment. While we are at it, let’s promote and encourage preservation of our beautiful mountain views and wildlife while we restore the already existing historical buildings.
Public Safety and Mental Health- I’m an advocate for promoting mental health, particularly in children and young adults. We must address teen suicides and drugs in our school system by bringing back programs to help the youth so they can be happy and productive members of society. Our tax dollars need to focus on families, safety and overall wellbeing. We also must assist our veterans who need disability services, job placement, homes and counseling. In addition, our elders must be properly cared for. We must represent those who came before us and take the time to ensure their quality of life as much as possible.
